What is Internet Hopping

Internet hopping is a little bit different from Wifi internet hopping, for it was what I did before I got the laptop with Wifi built in it. In some ways you are kind of limited in the place you can go to, and in ways you are not, depending on how much you have invested in electronics, as you will see in this article. Internet hopping is go to place that have computer, and wire internet access, and if you have an card internet, go anywhere. Here are five location you might want to checkout when going internet hopping:

Libraries

Libraries are great place to go for internet, especially for free internet. Most libraries have computer access to internet, wire access internet, and Wifi internet access, like I expressed in my last article, Going Wifi Hopping… The only thing with libraries is yes the internet in free, but only for a limited time, 45 to and hour time limited, but if you have a internet wire, internet card, or a computer with Wifi built in it, you can be on it as long as you want.

Cafes

Most cafes are also great place to go for internet, especially free internet too, but not all cafes that have internet, sometimes you have to pay. The kind of internet access you get at a cafe is ether wire internet or Wifi internet and if you have the internet card than that to. Most cafes though don’t have computer access to internet, unless your living in a big city, like New York or Los Angeles, where there is cyber cafes, but if you are living in cities that big but not real big, than may not have cyber cafes.

Some Hotels

Some hotels do have computer access, and some even have wire access and Wifi. The downside though is they want you to stay there to use their internet, at less the computer access anyway, but sometime they can be line it, but not all the time. If you have a laptop with Wifi built in it, or a internet card, than you don’t have to really worry about checking in.

Fedex Kinko’s

Fedex Kinko’s has been around for a long time, but now it is Fedex Kinko’s, but anyway you can go to Kinko’s, I mine Fedex Kinko’s to ship stuff, print, and get on the computer for internet access and other thing you need to do on the computer. I wouldn’t go to Kinko’s just to be getting on the computer, for they charge by the minute and their Wifi access is high and their printing price is high too (the library is cheaper). If you want just hang out and just internet hopping I would go to libraries, cafes, and maybe hotel, and only go to Kinko’s to get on their Wifi or to print something. I know I didn’t m enchain them in my last hub Going Wifi Hopping…, but I guess I’m not a big fan of Kinko’s, but I thought I would m enchain them here since they been the place to go for computer access for years, because when libraries didn’t have computer access and Kinko’s was all you had for computer internet access in some city or cyber cafe.

Go anywhere

If you have a internet card and a laptop, you can go anywhere with internet. You can take your laptop or mini laptop to the park and get the internet, to restaurant and cafe that charge to use the internet, you can get on no problem, get on before the movie starts, get on while waiting in line for your medicen at Walmart. I mien the world is great now, I’m just massing with you all, but an internet is great to have along with your laptop, I mien it’s a great experience, I just would like to have my service back.

When Internet Hopping

When going internet hopping, you can bring your mini laptop, or regular laptop, and if you don’t have one, just bring yourself. If you have one bring your internet wire or card, or laptop with Wifi access. If you don’t have those things than just bring yourself, even though you will be limited to the places you can go to or hop to(not hopping literally), just bring yourself, it still be fun. Also if you don’t have laptop, mini laptop with Wifi access, or internet card you might want to invest in one, it will broaden your internet experience.

Will happy internet hopping, much happiness Tamila

Free Wifi While Traveling

Staying connected while you are traveling is becoming easier each day. Not only are more businesses making WiFi available to their customers, but internet sites are popping up to let you know where you can connect and how.

Sites like wififreespot.com and jiwire.com both allow you to easily find hotspots with searches and links. It is becoming even more convenient with searches now available through your iPhone. Every state in the Unites States offers some WiFi hotspots for the eager traveler.

The locations have also expanded. It seems the coffee industry started a trend that everyone is jumping on board. Offer free internet connections to the customers and they will come. Now you can enjoy dinner or a coffee (or even get your oil changed) all while checking your emails or chatting away. The government has even jumped on board. Some city services (library, chamber of commerce, city hall) have free WiFi available to local residents and even just those who are passing through. There are even a few cities that are taking the WiFi services citywide (although it is still unclear how this will work for visitors).

Although WiFi connections are catching on, there is a catch to using them. You must be a customer or authorized user. Most of the connections will ask you if you are authorized to use the service – and you better be if you are going to log on. One man, who had been parking outside a local coffee shop to access its WiFi, was arrested for theft. If the WiFi is truly free then you won’t have to verify anything when you log on.

The best thing to do when you are traveling is to do a quick search before you leave. You should be able to find some WiFi connections along the way. Your hotel will most likely be wired, but that doesn’t mean it will be free. Many of the hotels I have stayed at required that you connect through a paid service (AT&T for example) and so the connection was available but it wasn’t free.

Here are a few places that offer free services to customers at most (if not all) locations:

Staples

Most airports

Many hospitals

Apple retail stores

Krystal restaurants

Many other chains and some local establishments also offer WiFi access to paying customers. Be sure to ask about it when you place your order (or before if WiFi is a necessity).

Going Wifi hopping, 10 places to go for Wifi hopping

What is WiFi Hopping

What is Wifi hopping you wonder? Wifi hopping is where you go to different place that have Wifi to get on the internet. Wifi hopping is a great way to get out and about, instead of being couped up in the house all day, just pick an area that has a lot of Wifi hot spot that are free and not free and go there. Here are 10 Wifi places where you can go to find Wifi:

Cafes

Cafes are great place to go and relax, get a cut of coffee, maybe read a book, and get on the internet, especially Wifi internet, just bring your laptop. Cafe can relaxing place to work from your laptop if you have one of those kind of work from home kind of jobs, who say you have to work from home. The only problem that I have with some cafes, is some of them want to charge you to use there internet like Starbucks, and Books a Million, but Books a Million is not as bad as Starbucks, but don’t let that discourage you from using their internet. So checkout some cafes in you Wifi hopping.

Some Libraries

Some library’s do have Wifi internet, and most just have internet. The library’s that have Wifi some of them also have laptops to checkout for a hour or two if no one is wanting one. A thing about library’s is that internet is free, so the Wifi internet is free too, but the down side is it’s for a limited time, like 45 minutes to an hour, but if you have your own laptop you can use it as much as you want.

Some Restaurants

Not all restaurants, but some of do actually, which kind of surprised me at first, and no I’m not talking about MacDonald’s, which seem to have everything, but I’m talking about restaurants that I didn’t think had Wifi internet, it seem like the more casual restaurants it so , and most of the time it’s free. Some that I can think of that have Wifi access are of course MacDonald’s, and Panera Bread(in Kansas City) , and MaCalister( in Kansas City) are just some.

Some Down Towns Areas

Some down towns area do have great deal of Wifi hot spots, and some don’t. If your in a big city like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, just about any other big city are the best places to find Wifi internet. The reason why these city down town areas are great places to find Wifi is because they have these great cafes and restaurants that have Wifi, that hide beneath these big tall office buildings, that also have Wifi in some of their office building lobby’s.

Hotels Lobby’s

Hotels lobby’s are great places to relax, look around in, checkout, and get on the Wifi internet, and you don’t necessarily have to stay there to get on it, even though they prefer it. One hotel lobby let me get on there Wifi one day, but when came back one another day it wouldn’t let me on, so just kind of go to the hotel lobby’s every now an than in your Wifi hopping experience. The hotel in the down town and near the down town don’t seem to mind people setting around getting online, they seem kind of uses to it, but the ones farther from the down town area, I’m not so sure of, so be low key or ask if it’s ok.

Some Shopping Centers

Some shopping centers, malls, and department store do have Wifi, but not all of them do, and not everywhere in these places, so you want to look for Wifi hot spot. The first indicator of an hot spot is cafes and restaurants. You don’t necessarily have to go in to the cafe or restaurant to get on when in a mall. Most mail have setting area near them so you don’t necessarily have to go in, just set down, relax and get on.

Some Colleges

Some college and university do have Wifi at their campuses. The reason why I say some is because depending on the college or school, and how up to date they are, they may not. That places that you want to go to find out are the cafeteria and some college and university have cafe in them and could that be a good indicator that there’s Wifi. Most colleges and university are open to the public, but you still might want to keep a low profile while on campus, that mines no roaming all over the campus, unless you are thing about going there or trying to find the cafeteria.

Some Bookstores

Some bookstores do have Wifi, but down side to bookstores is some want you to pay for there Wifi by paying for a membership, yeah it’s a small fee, you may not go to that bookstores all the time. Also the reason why I say some bookstores is because there are still bookstores that do not have cafe in them, so if you see a bookstore with a cafe in it thats a good indicator that there is Wifi there, but still ask just to make sure.

Some Markets

Some markets do have Wifi in them, and it’s usually the markets down, and their kind of up scale. I mine they look more like a restaurant or cafe than market, and if their big markets, they look like malls of food, um… Anyway if you see people with their laptop out there’s probably Wifi at the market, and will adment it did amaze me at first, but I like it, it’s cool.

Airports

Airports today do have Wifi, at less most of them anyway. There is also a lot of restaurants and cafes at airport, which I said earlier are great indicator for Wifi. Even though airports are not your topical places to go, and they are open to the public, and airports are a change from the everyday, but wouldn’t go to them as often because there is a lot off security, so be kind of low key when your there.

When Wifi Hopping

When going Wifi hopping you to pack a laptop, a mini laptop is pretty good for this kind of experience. Even though mini laptop don’t have everything on them, you don’t really need everything for this kind of experience, and you want to pack light for this journey. If you don’t have one, then the mini laptop is a bit more affordable to invest in then the regular side laptop. Another thing about mini laptop is there hard to notice in your bag, and you don’t really need a preticular type of bag, like the big laptop, just about any big bag will do for the mine. Dress for the weather, for your going to be out and about. look for people with their laptop out, and cafes, like I said earlier those are indicator for Wifi hot spots. You want to do Wifi hopping on you day off, I mine you might want to start the day at a library cafe for breakfast, a than a coffee house for lunch, and cafe/ restaurant or market for dinner. I hope you’ll give Wifi hopping a try, I think you might like it, I know I do anyway, happy Wifi hopping.

Much Happiness Tamila
