Divine Technology

Churches and other religious institutions are not known for their immediate love of all things new and different. But is this suspicion of advancing technology down to fear or simply down to a more level-headed approach to changes in society?

Whilst some within the Church are wary of relying on such technology, many others have begun to embrace it. The fact that religious organisations don’t jump on such band wagons is a surprise to many since their beliefs dictate that they should find the best ways they can to preach the gospel and technology surely is the best way to reach large numbers of people. However, the difference is that the Church will always prefer real experiences and contact with real people. Therefore, understanding how best to reach people through means of technology is much more complicated than simply just setting up the odd Facebook page.

This makes the reasons that the Church is slow to adapt to changes in society much more clear.

They want to understand how these changes will effect or benefit them before they plunge in head first. Many churches now have their own websites and are using the virtual world more and more, but are trying not to become dependant on online communities, favouring real ones to the virtual.

However, one area that many churches are embracing whole-heartedly is Church Software. As opposed to this being a way to try to change the way they preach, most Church Software is simply designed to make the day-to-day running of the church much easier. From Church Accounting to Scheduling, the range of software available to churches is increasing every day, and rather than diverting time from focused sermons like certain technologies can, applications such as software for Church Accounting are doing the opposite and freeing up much more time to focus on what is important.

WIFI Radios the Voice of the World

Posted in Wifi Antenna

0

Up until a few years ago, listening to broadcasts from countries around the world required a shortwave receiver and wires for antennas and even then you had to listen to music and talk fading in and out and the irritating pops and whistles while trying to find a station. Finding new stations was always an adventure, and it was mostly by luck that you could find a station you could actually listen to for maybe a half hour at the most.

With computers and the Internet a whole new world has become available  to listeners around the world. Today there are more than 16,000 radio stations streaming live, 24/7 from exotic countries, from Albania to Zimbabwe. We can listen to these radio stations on our computers of course, but that can be a problem since most computers tend to be stationary in a home office, and not in our bedrooms, kitchens, and living rooms

The first step is to find a WIFI Radio. This is very easily done with a quick search on the internet. Two very good sources are,
C. Crane Company http://www.ccrane.com/radios/wifi-radios/ and
Amazon http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=WIFI+Radios&x=0&y=0

Amazon also has an excellent review site for any item you purchase, so after you pick a radio the interests you, take the time to read the reviews to give you a heads up on any problems or other things that can guide you to a more educated purchase. The price for a new radio will start at around 99 dollars. Not to bad considering this new radio will pick up the over 16,000 stations streaming over the Internet 24/7.

Once you have the radio in your home. Take time to read the instruction book so you can learn how to operate the radio and use it to its fullest potential. The radio will also come with a “quick start” guide which will bypass the more intricate instructions and bring you closer too quickly having the radio operational in your home.

You can set these radios up with a wired network using a Ethernet cable plugged directly into the back of the radio. This defeats the purpose I feel of having a WIFI radio which is very portable and usable in any room in your house where you can get a good WFI signal from your network. If you do hard wire it you will have the luxury of also being able to stream your song collection you have on your computer to the radio, but isn’t that what MP3 Players for?

So we are going wireless… Following the instructions that came with your radio you will need to Scan for Networks. Once the radio finds your network it will ask for your password and once you sign in, you will be connected to your network.

If your WIFI network is encrypted for security, using either a WEP key or WPA key, you will have to know this key to access the network. The radio will ask you for this key which you enter into the radio. I was stuck at this step, but a quick search on the internet quickly solved the problem,  just search “how to find the WEP key for a wireless router”.
Typing http://192.168.1.1/ should bring you into your browsers address bar will bring you to your routers home page. You will have to enter your admin name and password to get into the settings for the router… once there, click on “wireless” and then “wireless security” and you will find the WEP codes there for your router. Once you have these codes, just input them according to your radio’s instructions into the radio.

Even with the initial problem of locating my WEP key I quickly had my radio up and running with in 2 hours of finding it on my doorstep left by my friendly UPS man. After that a few more hours of playing with the controls and reading your instruction manual, you will soon learn how operate this WIFI radio and all the magic it will do.

Have fun exploring the world with this radio. The radio will give you the option of finding stations either by Location, (which country do you want to listen to?) or Genre, or by Presets where you can store your favorite stations so you don’t have to search for them again.

Are you missing your homeland? Imagine having a clock radio that will wake you with local news and music from    your home country, in your language.
Having a “Theme Party”? You can quickly find commercial free music to fit the theme and mood for your party.
Romantic evening planned? You can find the perfect mood setting music for that special evening.
If you have a whole house intercom and radio you can easily connect this radio to it using a simple FM             transmitter. C. Crane has a very good one available in their catalog for 70 dollars. http://www.ccrane.com/radios/fm-transmitters/fm-transmitter.aspx or check  their “orphans” I got one from them there for 50 dollars.
Best of all… It’s FREE! No subscriptions required, unlike satellite radio providers such as XM or Sirius which will    cost you from 10 to 17 dollars a month depending on which service package you choose.
C. Crane is an excellent company to deal with. They have a good print catalog and their customer service is      great, both by email or by phone. Live people and real help and support.

Wi-fi networks advice

Wi Fi Networks have had a massive impact on the world that we live in and they changed a lot of things for many of us. Such networks are most widely used when it comes to communication, for they can facilitate a fast and easy data transfer that features no hassles. In the world, there are basically millions of such networks available and this is because people have been fed up with using cables that are very annoying and they will get tangled and also occupy space if you have a big network. If we are to compare the way wireless networks are today with the way they were a few years back, then the differences that we will see would be mind blowing. Such networks use the IEEE 802.11 standard when it comes to data transfer.

There is also a flaw that people who will get such a network should be aware of and that flaw is the fact that they can be easily accessed by someone else, if they are not password protected.

But if you will choose to set up a password, then you will never have to worry about someone else accessing your data.

In order to set up a wi fi network, there are a few components that must be brought together. These components are the wireless router, the network card and of course, the modem, which will have the router connected to it through a cable. The range of these networks is usually around 60 meters. So basically, it will not matter in what room of your house you will be, for you will still get internet access. Keep in mind that if you are also using other devices that work through a wireless mode, you will have your range cut into half and reaching around 30 meters of covered area.

But you don’t have to worry about this, for if you want to improve the coverage area, you will be able to do so using a signal booster. Using it, you will instantly enlarge the coverage area and also the performance of your network. Keep in mind also that when you have an opened network, it means that everyone will be able to access it, whereas if you have a closed one, it means that the people wanting to connect to it will have to use a password.

There are many wireless connections everywhere you look, like your phone’s Bluetooth connection, but they can be way faster than that. Make sure to disable printer and file sharing if you want to have your data protected.

Internet Hopping, 5 Places to go for Internet

Posted in Wifi

What is Internet Hopping

Internet hopping is a little bit different from Wifi internet hopping, for it was what I did before I got the laptop with Wifi built in it. In some ways you are kind of limited in the place you can go to, and in ways you are not, depending on how much you have invested in electronics, as you will see in this article. Internet hopping is go to place that have computer, and wire internet access, and if you have an card internet, go anywhere. Here are five location you might want to checkout when going internet hopping:

Libraries

Libraries are great place to go for internet, especially for free internet. Most libraries have computer access to internet, wire access internet, and Wifi internet access, like I expressed in my last article, Going Wifi Hopping… The only thing with libraries is yes the internet in free, but only for a limited time, 45 to and hour time limited, but if you have a internet wire, internet card, or a computer with Wifi built in it, you can be on it as long as you want.

Cafes

Most cafes are also great place to go for internet, especially free internet too, but not all cafes that have internet, sometimes you have to pay. The kind of internet access you get at a cafe is ether wire internet or Wifi internet and if you have the internet card than that to. Most cafes though don’t have computer access to internet, unless your living in a big city, like New York or Los Angeles, where there is Cybercafes, but if you are living in cities that big but not real big, than may not have Cybercafes.

Some Hotels

Some hotels do have computer access, and some even have wire access and Wifi. The downside though is they want you to stay there to use their internet, at less the computer access anyway, but sometime they can be line it, but not all the time. If you have a laptop with Wifi built in it, or a internet card, than you don’t have to really worry about checking in.

Fedex Kinko’s

Fedex Kinko’s has been around for a long time, but now it is Fedex Kinko’s, but anyway you can go to Kinko’s, I mine Fedex Kinko’s to ship stuff, print, and get on the computer for internet access and other thing you need to do on the computer. I wouldn’t go to Kinko’s just to be getting on the computer, for they charge by the munite and their Wifi access is high and their printing price is high too (the library is cheaper). If you want just hang out and just internet hopping I would go to libraries, cafes, and maybe hotel, and only go to Kinko’s to get on their Wifi or to print something. I know I didn’t m enchain them in my last hub Going Wifi Hopping…, but I guess I’m not a big fan of Kinko’s, but I thought I would m enchain them here since they been the place to go for computer access for years, because when libraries didn’t have computer access and Kinko’s was all you had for computer internet access in some city or cyber cafe.

Go anywhere

If you have a internet card and a laptop, you can go anywhere with internet. You can take your laptop or mini laptop to the park and get the internet, to restaurant and cafe that charge to use the internet, you can get on no problem, get on before the movie starts, get on while waiting in line for your medicen at Walmart. I mien the world is great now, I’m just massing with you all, but an internet is great to have along with your laptop, I mien it’s a great experience, I just would like to have my service back.

When Internet Hopping

When going internet hopping, you can bring your mini laptop, or regular laptop, and if you don’t have one, just bring yourself. If you have one bring your internet wire or card, or laptop with Wifi access. If you don’t have those things than just bring yourself, even though you will be limited to the places you can go to or hop to(not hopping literally), just bring yourself, it still be fun. Also if you don’t have laptop, mini laptop with Wifi access, or internet card you might want to invest in one, it will broaden your internet experience.

Will happy internet hopping, much happiness Tamila

Wifi Networking Alternative For The Expanding Home Network – Powerline Networking

Posted in Wifi Connection

Have you noticed the trend with many of the gadgets coming out on the market lately? Everything that possibly can be is getting a network connection. Yes even your kitchen appliances are getting a network connection, these so called “Smart” or “Luxury” Kitchens are on the rise, but are still a bit off in the future before surfing the internet on the fridge will be the standard.

There are many other devices though that has become the standard in most consumers’ homes these days, often causing home owners a bit of network technical jargon confusion. You know the CAT5, WIFI, SSID, WEP, ugly wires along the wall blues.

Items like our HiDef TV, Cable Box, Blu-Ray, streaming audio and video, gaming systems like the Wii, Xbox, and Play Station all typically are internet ready, we run into the issue of whether to go with running CAT5 cable for a secure reliable wired internet connection, or utilizing WIFI or a combination of both.

They each have some advantages and disadvantages and in some cases neither is the best choice due to some of their fall backs. Most homes do not have CAT5 cable installed through the house or even to the living room for that matter, it is not a easy task to install in the walls once a home has been completed, which typically means you would have to run the wire under the house, or through the attic, or along the baseboard utilizing one of those wire covers which still is not a great look. If more than one connection is needed you will need another router at that location, unless you plan to swap the connection from one device to another.

Reliability and speed will be difficult to achieve if there are many walls and distance to travel for WIFI connections. It is just about impossible to play your gaming system through a WIFI connection, unless you are able to get outstanding signal strength and high speeds that are reliable.

Many ponder what other options are out there. Not being able to take full advantage of the networking capabilities makes one feel like they are not getting their money’s worth from the devices. Frustrated with either connectivity/reliability issues, or the not so great look of wires running along the living room baseboard or just not being an option, what else can you do?

Well here is the good news, this technology actually has been around for several years now, however previously it was not the greatest of connections, but just like all technology it gets better over time. It is called Powerline Networking, or Powerline Ethernet.

What this essentially allows you to do is use your homes electrical outlets to get the network connection to other areas of your house without having to install new wires or use a slower not as reliable WIFI connection. You can use this with your current WIFI router so as laptops and other WIFI devices like “Smart Phones” can still have access.

Turn Any Electrical Outlet into a High-Speed Home Network Connection, easily connect TiVo®, Slingbox™, game consoles, or TVs.

The one I recommend is the fairly new NETGEAR XAVB1004 Up to 200Mbps Powerline AV Adapter Kit with Ethernet Switch. Which is rated for home theater and gaming, now no more slow unreliable WIFI connections, or unsightly wires along the baseboard. Just connect your cable box, Blu-Ray, gaming system, and TV to the Powerline switch and you are all set with speeds up to 200Mbps that is fast and reliable, hooked up in minutes, no settings to configure etc. Plug n Play all the way.

Wireless Local Area Network :Background and Functions

Posted in Internet Connection

0

Historical Background: As we peep in the history of Networking we will find that inn 1971, the researchers at the University of Hawaii developed the world’s first WLAN , or in full form the wireless local area network which was named as ALOHAnet .The ALOHnet was supposed to be the bi-directional or two way directional star topology of the system which included seven computers deployed over four islands in order to communicate with the central computer on the Oahu Island without using phone lines for connection or data Transfer. Genuinely ,WLAN or wireless Local Area Network hardware was so expensive for the companies that it was only used as an alternative method to cabled LAN in places where cabling was supposed to be difficult or impossible for the purposes of data transfer . The Early developments and improvements included the industry-specific solutions and proprietary protocols but at the end of the 1990s these were replaced by standards, primarily the various versions of IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) protocols.

Introduction: The wireless LANs or Wireless Local Area Network utilizes and uses the electromagnetic waves which are spread by spectrum technology and are based on radio waves to transfer information in form of signals between devices in a limited area and the main server. According to kinds of WLANS they are of two types 1.infrastructure WLANs and two. Independent WLANs.The Infrastructure WLANs are used where the wireless network is linked to a wired network or with the cables, is more commonly used today. In an infrastructure WLAN, the wireless network is usually connected to a wired network such as Ethernet, via access points, which possesses both Ethernet links and antennas to send and receive signals as well as making them powerful to transmit. These signals span micro cells, or circular coverage areas (depending on walls and other physical obstructions) or buildings in the way of access points and transmitter, in which devices can communicate with the access points, and through these, with the wired network. In a wireless LANs the devices can move within and between coverage areas without experiencing disruption or obstruction in connectivity as long as they stay within range of an access point or extension point which is similar to an access point at all times and occasions.

The wireless Local Area Network or WLAM is a network which is the linking of two or more computers without using wires or cables. WLAN utilizes spread-spectrum technology based on radio waves to enable communication between devices in a limited area, also known as the basic service set. This gives users the mobility to move around within a broad coverage area and still be connected to the network. As regards the home user, the wireless has become most popular and economical due to ease of installation, and location freedom with the gaining popularity of laptops and PDAs.

How Wireless LANs Work: “The other model which is connected through cables and it can be compared to those of wired LANs where devices connect via cables to hubs, or common wiring points, and from these to a central server. However, in wired networks, each hub has a finite number of jacks, and thus, can only connect a preset number of devices. Wire line networks are also confined by the existence of fixed cables, which limit connection to specified locations.

Wired LANs: In a wired LAN, devices are connected to the network via cables. Devices are generally anchored to a set location depending on the placement of the network lines. The While WLANs provide some key benefits, including security, mobility, and scalability, they are currently much slower as compared to the wired LANs. For instance, a wired LAN using 10BaseT Ethernet ranges from 10 – 100 Mbps. and Other pros and cons of wireless LANs (in comparison with wired LANs) are listed in the table below:

Wireless LAN Pros and Cons:

Pros

Easier to deploy and configure
More secure
Ultimately more cost-effective (scalable)
Facilitates office relocation (network portability)
Easier to maintain
Makes available real-time data in broader range of coverage areas

Cons:

Slower – Ethernet speeds range from 10 mbps to 100 mbps; corporate networks require high bandwidths
Signal interference often causes disruptions in connection
Systems from different vendors may not be interoperable
Costly installation

Benefits: In the recent years the popularity of wireless LANs is a testament primarily to their convenience, cost efficiency, and ease of integration with other networks and network components for the better facilitation of Clients or customers. Today, the majority of computers sold to consumers today come pre-equipped with all necessary wireless LAN technology for the safe facilitation and hassle free UN interrupted Internet service.

The benefits of wireless LANs include:

Convenience: The wireless nature of such networks allows users to access network resources from nearly any convenient location within their primary networking environment (a home or office). With the increasing saturation of laptop-style computers, this is particularly relevant.

Mobility: With the emergence of public wireless networks, users can access the internet even outside their normal work environment. Most chain coffee shops, for example, offer their customers a wireless connection to the internet at little or no cost.

Productivity: Users connected to a wireless network can maintain a nearly constant affiliation with their desired network as they move from place to place. For a business, this implies that an employee can potentially be more productive as his or her work can be accomplished.

Deployment: Initial setup of an infrastructure-based wireless network requires little more than a single access point. Wired networks, on the other hand, have the additional cost and complexity of actual physical cables being run to numerous locations (which can even be impossible for hard-to-reach locations within a building).

Expandability: Wireless networks can serve a suddenly-increased number of clients with the existing equipment. In a wired network, additional clients would require additional wiring.

Cost: Wireless networking hardware is at worst a modest increase from wired counterparts. This potentially increased cost is almost always more than outweighed by the savings in cost and labor associated to running physical cables.

Disadvantages:

The Wireless LAN technology, while filled with the conveniences and advantages which are described above. It has its share of downfalls or demerits also. If think of nay networking solution, the wireless LANs may not be desirable for a number of reasons. As most of these have to do with the inherent limitations of the technology because they are sometimes dependent devices…

Security: The Wireless LAN transceivers are designed to serve computers throughout a structure with uninterrupted service using radio frequencies. Due this space and cost, the antennas typically present on wireless networking cards in the end computers are generally relatively poor. To receive signals properly using such limited antennas or devices throughout even a modest area, the wireless LAN transceiver utilizes a fairly considerable amount of power. It means that not only can the wireless packets be intercepted by a nearby adversary’s poorly-equipped computer, but more importantly, a user willing to spend a small amount of money on a good quality antenna can pick up packets at a remarkable distance as the case may be . Perhaps, the people in hundreds of time the radius as the typical user so they are also vulnerable as they are not secure data transmitters.

Range: As regards the typical range of a common 802.11g network with standard equipment is on the order of tens of meters. While sufficient for a typical home, it will be insufficient in a larger structure. To obtain additional range, repeaters or additional access points will have to be purchased. Costs for these items can add up quickly. Other technologies are in the development phase, however, which feature increased range, hoping to render this disadvantage irrelevant.

Reliability: Like any radio frequency transmission, wireless networking signals are subject to a wide variety of interference, as well as complex propagation effects (such as multi path, or especially in this case Rican fading) that are beyond the control of the network administrator. In the case of typical networks, modulation is achieved by complicated forms of phase-shift keying (PSK) or quadrate amplitude modulation (QAM), making interference and propagation effects all the more disturbing. As a result, important network resources such as servers are rarely connected wirelessly.

Speed: The speed on most wireless networks (typically 1-54 Mbps) is far slower than even the slowest common wired networks (100Mbps up to several Gbps). There are also performance issues caused by TCP and its built-in congestion avoidance. For most users, however, this observation is irrelevant since the speed bottleneck is not in the wireless routing but rather in the outside network connectivity itself. For example, the maximum ADSL throughput (usually 8Mbps or less) offered by telecommunications companies to general-purpose customers is already far slower than the slowest wireless network to which it is typically connected. That is to say, in most environments, a wireless network running at its slowest speed is still faster than the internet connection serving it in the first place. However, in specialized environments, the throughput of a wired network might be necessary. Newer standards such as 802.11n are addressing this limitation and will support peak throughputs in the range of 100-200 mbps.

Wireless LAN architecture using an infrastructure BSS

WLAN can be connected through a cell phone card via GSM network, satellite hardware from your satellite company, or the most common a 802.11 router and either a network card for PCI/PCI express slot on a desktop, or PCMCIA card for a laptop. Some laptops already come prepared with built-in wireless.

Stations: All components that can connect into a wireless medium in a network are referred to as stations. All stations are equipped with wireless network interface cards (WNICs). Wireless stations fall into one of two categories: access points and clients.

Conclusion: If the functions of Wireless Local Area Network are analyzed and compared with cabled Local Area network, it will be clear that Wlan ahs many features and has really paired cost of wireless and other disconnection which is usually found in cabled Wireless Area Network. But besides its numerous facilities, it ha some disadvantages which need to be rectified for improving the wireless Local Area Network Area. Firstly the WLAN should have proper security while transmitter and receiver receive and send their data. Secondly The Speed and the data sent from the main server should be strong so that it may not get slow as the distance go increasing. Thirdly the wireless data can easily be caught by the Users who use strong antennas while the remote users just have to carry on low signals and low speed. As the low signal have low speed.

For one, computers and portable technology have completely reshaped the way that we breach social connections, make business relationships, and even organize our daily lives. Furthermore, this worldwide exchange of information has literally driven us to become a much more global community. Consequently, modern lives typically involve much more travel, and without the advantages of wireless internet technology, it’s hard knowing just how hard it would be to retain order throughout the year.

Many contemporary lives revolve exclusively around the net. Days are filled with video chats and conference calls; nights are filled with streaming video broadcasts and socializing. This combined with the sheer amount of information readily available online has indicated with little room for doubt just how important the net has become to us as a society. For people who rely on high-speed connections but also find themselves frequently traveling for their jobs, it is absolutely essential that they find a way to stay connected while on the go. For this group of people, mobile wimax has entered the marketplace at just the right time, offering speed and efficiency in a growing number of cities and towns throughout the United States.

Allowing working people to engage in the same web-based activities that they are accustomed to from their office while in airports or while staying in a new city is just the beginning of how mobile wimax is making lives more productive and efficient. These individuals are finding that video chats, uploading and downloading large files is far easier than it was with previous services. At download rates between 3 and 6 megabytes per second, it’s now possible to conduct complex multi-media activities online form laptop computers in coffee shops and airports around the country. Furthermore, the traveler can worry less about the time they are wasting while going through the complicated ordeal of airport security checks and the like, focusing on the priorities that matter most to them.

In fact it’s no secret that 4G networks provide tools that are essential to the contemporary lifestyle. People have become so accustomed to the different platforms for communicating online that it can often feel like a significant sacrifice when these tools are unavailable. On the go, at home, or in the office, the prospect of utilizing all of the communication devices provided to us online is a relieving one. With video chats, business associates are able to stay in touch with far more intimacy. Faster downloads mean more efficient use of one’s time. All in all, the speed and convenience of these new networks is precisely what the contemporary worker has been demanding for some time now, and it’s finally arrived.

WiFi hopping, 10 places to do it

What is WiFi Hopping

What is Wifi hopping you wonder? Wifi hopping is where you go to different place that have Wifi to get on the internet. Wifi hopping is a great way to get out and about, instead of being couped up in the house all day, just pick an area that has a lot of Wifi hot spot that are free and not free and go there. Here are 10 Wifi places where you can go to find Wifi:

Cafes

Cafes are great place to go and relax, get a cut of coffee, maybe read a book, and get on the internet, especially Wifi internet, just bring your laptop. Cafe can relaxing place to work from your laptop if you have one of those kind of work from home kind of jobs, who say you have to work from home. The only problem that I have with some cafes, is some of them want to charge you to use there internet like Starbucks, and Books a Million, but Books a Million is not as bad as Starbucks, but don’t let that discourage you from using their internet. So checkout some cafes in you Wifi hopping.

Some Libraries

Some library’s do have Wifi internet, and most just have internet. The library’s that have Wifi some of them also have laptops to checkout for a hour or two if no one is wanting one. A thing about library’s is that internet is free, so the Wifi internet is free too, but the down side is it’s for a limited time, like 45 minutes to an hour, but if you have your own laptop you can use it as much as you want.

Some Restaurants

Not all restaurants, but some of do actually, which kind of surprised me at first, and no I’m not talking about MacDonald’s, which seem to have everything, but I’m talking about restaurants that I didn’t think had Wifi internet, it seem like the more casual restaurants it so , and most of the time it’s free. Some that I can think of that have Wifi access are of course MacDonald’s, and Panera Bread(in Kansas City) , and MaCalister( in Kansas City) are just some.

Some Down Towns Areas

Some down towns area do have great deal of Wifi hot spots, and some don’t. If your in a big city like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, just about any other big city are the best places to find Wifi internet. The reason why these city down town areas are great places to find Wifi is because they have these great cafes and restaurants that have Wifi, that hide beneath these big tall office buildings, that also have Wifi in some of their office building lobby’s.

Hotels Lobby’s

Hotels lobby’s are great places to relax, look around in, checkout, and get on the Wifi internet, and you don’t necessarily have to stay there to get on it, even though they prefer it. One hotel lobby let me get on there Wifi one day, but when came back one another day it wouldn’t let me on, so just kind of go to the hotel lobby’s every now an than in your Wifi hopping experience. The hotel in the down town and near the down town don’t seem to mind people setting around getting online, they seem kind of uses to it, but the ones farther from the down town area, I’m not so sure of, so be low key or ask if it’s ok.

Some Shopping Centers

Some shopping centers, malls, and department store do have Wifi, but not all of them do, and not everywhere in these places, so you want to look for Wifi hot spot. The first indicator of an hot spot is cafes and restaurants. You don’t necessarily have to go in to the cafe or restaurant to get on when in a mall. Most mail have setting area near them so you don’t necessarily have to go in, just set down, relax and get on.

Some Colleges

Some college and university do have Wifi at their campuses. The reason why I say some is because depending on the college or school, and how up to date they are, they may not. That places that you want to go to find out are the cafeteria and some college and university have cafe in them and could that be a good indicator that there’s Wifi. Most colleges and university are open to the public, but you still might want to keep a low profile while on campus, that mines no roaming all over the campus, unless you are thing about going there or trying to find the cafeteria.

Some Bookstores

Some bookstores do have Wifi, but down side to bookstores is some want you to pay for there Wifi by paying for a membership, yeah it’s a small fee, you may not go to that bookstores all the time. Also the reason why I say some bookstores is because there are still bookstores that do not have cafe in them, so if you see a bookstore with a cafe in it thats a good indicator that there is Wifi there, but still ask just to make sure.

Some Markets

Some markets do have Wifi in them, and it’s usually the markets down, and their kind of up scale. I mine they look more like a restaurant or cafe than market, and if their big markets, they look like malls of food, um… Anyway if you see people with their laptop out there’s probably Wifi at the market, and will adment it did amaze me at first, but I like it, it’s cool.

Airports

Airports today do have Wifi, at less most of them anyway. There is also a lot of restaurants and cafes at airport, which I said earlier are great indicator for Wifi. Even though airports are not your topical places to go, and they are open to the public, and airports are a change from the everyday, but wouldn’t go to them as often because there is a lot off security, so be kind of low key when your there.

When Wifi Hopping

When going Wifi hopping you to pack a laptop, a mini laptop is pretty good for this kind of experience. Even though mini laptop don’t have everything on them, you don’t really need everything for this kind of experience, and you want to pack light for this journey. If you don’t have one, then the mini laptop is a bit more affordable to invest in then the regular side laptop. Another thing about mini laptop is there hard to notice in your bag, and you don’t really need a preticular type of bag, like the big laptop, just about any big bag will do for the mine. Dress for the weather, for your going to be out and about. look for people with their laptop out, and cafes, like I said earlier those are indicator for Wifi hot spots. You want to do Wifi hopping on you day off, I mine you might want to start the day at a library cafe for breakfast, a than a coffee house for lunch, and cafe/ restaurant or market for dinner. I hope you’ll give Wifi hopping a try, I think you might like it, I know I do anyway, happy Wifi hopping.

Discretion and thankfulness for your free long range wifi antenna

In this day and age especially people can get highly suspicious over questionable things such as bowls hanging in windows. From your stand point you are simply and honestly just harnessing a public wifi with your newly created wireless wifi antenna (or long range wifi antenna as some call it). While you are progressing with great accomplishment and satisfaction over how well this homemade wifi design of mainly household goods work, others, your neighbors or “passer bys” maybe looking at your place as suspicious. In case you didnt check out the articles on free wifi there is ( More free internet information here ) and some tips to truely secure your pc here. If you really need some help setting this all up, here’s some help from our 7 year old on this matter. It’s so easy to do he can show you via video.

There are a few ways you may like to consider to discretion proof your home. The first being that you choose the best area within your house for your dish wifi antenna reception with the least noticeable display from the street or nosy neighbors. It’s important to find the best area of your house with the strongest signal though as it will only improve as you setup your wifi cantenna. If though you can get a strong wifi strength in a more discrete part of your home (not easily street viewable) then it will be to your advantage.

When you select a window for which you will hang (or more appropriately “duct tape”) your bowl, there is another discretionary measure to take which can help. Hang a very thin (stressing thin) sheet or curtain on the window before you put the bowl against it. I found that it was important to press the bowl firmly up against the window in order to get the signal strength at its strongest. If the wifi directional antenna was out away from the window it was more likely to move and drop your signal. Your wifi antenna range should still be working fine with this curtain of sorts, and hidden from wondering eyes.

Of course there is no need to really do any of these things as many would probably not even notice your antenna apparatus. Even if they did and chose to inquire they may just be better off since they too would get an interesting and informative instruction on how to make your own homemade free wifi antenna. (if you were willing to diverge your creative blueprint).

Lastly be thankful. This should really only be a temporary solution as it is always best to get your own paid-for account but if you are utilizing a public or shared neighbor resource, why not take a few moments to visit in person or drop a note to say thank you for the usage which is helping you get by with internet connectivity. It’s a great thing to have temporary free internet wifi and even a greater thing to express your gratitude toward the one helping you out.
